Apply for a new club premises certificate

To qualify for a certificate, your club must make sure that:

  • it has premises that's occupied and used for club purposes
  • alcohol and entertainment is only provided to members and their guests
  • only someone 18 or older can serve alcohol or buy it for the club
  • no-one can benefit financially from buying or selling alcohol
  • it is established and conducted in good faith
  • it has at least 25 members

How to advertise your application

You must place two advertisements of the application during the representation period:

  • the first advertisement must be on the outside of the property on light blue A4 paper. The advertisement should be on display for 28 days starting the day after you submit your application.   • the second advertisement should appear in a newspaper within 10 working days of submitting your application. Use this Newspaper Advertisement (Grant of Club) (Word doc, 141 KB) 
  • send a copy of the advertisement to the licensing unit. If you do not do this it could result in the application being rejected

Tacit Consent 

We have a target completion period of 56 days for this notice. If you have not heard from us by the end of this period you can act as though your application is granted.

Please note that this target period only begins on receipt of a complete application.
