Information for student voters

Electoral registration and voting information for students living in Guildford

If you are a student, you are entitled to register to vote at more than one address. If you choose not to register in Guildford, please use our online form to tell us the reason.

As a student, you have the choice of where you would like to vote, depending on whether you are living at your term-time or home address at the time of an election (as long as your term-time and home address are not in the same borough).

If you choose to register in more than one place, you will be able to vote in local government elections in both places. This is allowed because you are voting to elect councillors to different councils.

You are not allowed to vote twice at a UK Parliamentary election - doing so is a criminal offence.

If you are unsure if you are eligible to register because of your nationality, please see our list of nationalities eligible to vote. (PDF, 80 KB)
