West Horsley community governance review
What are we consulting on?
We are consulting the public on whether to:
- increase the number of parish councillors elected from nine to eleven
West Horsley parish should continue to be unwarded, i.e. no change be made, even if the review is successful. This means each parish councillor will not be elected by voters living in a particular area (ward).
If approved, the change will come into effect in the next scheduled parish council elections in May 2023.
Why has this request been made?
The reason for the increase in the number of parish councillors is:
- to reduce the workload on individual parish councillors
- to address the increase in population
- to improve diversity on the parish council
